Peter’s Picks – Decaffeinated Teas

Try and find quality whole leaf decaffeinated green or black tea on the market either on the web or in a tea shop. You will look long and hard before you find anything and when you do, it will probably be decaffeinated by a chemical process. Who wants to drink chemically processed tea?

We pride ourselves in carrying a line of 16 CO2 processed naturally decaffeinated teas in both green and black, with and without flavour added. We even have 2 of these in pyramid teabags for your convenience. The other processes involve solvents such as benzenetrichloroethylene, and chloroform and the solvents of choice have become dichloromethane and ethyl acetate. As a rule, if I cannot pronounce it, I stay away from it. Please research these chemical decaffeination methods for yourselves if you wish.

Decaf teas contain on average the same percentage of caffeine as a decaf coffee for your reference. Keep in mind that you use much less tea than coffee so it is generally safe for those who cannot tolerate caffeine in their diet.

Our selection of decaffeinated teas is listed below. If you need or want a decaf tea please come in and choose one of our reasonably priced decaf teas. You will not be disappointed!
