Spring Awakening: Distinctly Tea’s Matcha Pancakes Recipe


  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Maple syrup, to serve
  • Fresh blueberries, to serve


  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Heat a lightly greased skillet or griddle over medium heat. Pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  5. Cook the pancakes for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve the pancakes warm, drizzled with maple syrup and topped with fresh blueberries.
